Wolf Den is one of eight trails accessible to off-road vehicles in the Badin Lake OHV trail system located in Uwharrie National Forest. Prior to becoming a national forest in 1961 the land was used for hunting, gold mining, logging and farming. These activities created a collection of roads and trails that were used by off-road enthusiasts and were the foundation for the OHV trail system that exists today. Wolf Den is a short trail that provides the opportunity for even novice drivers to experience the forest’s magnificent landscape on wheels. Wolf den is a dirt road rutted out with, washes and gulches. Includes water crossings up to 6" depth and passable mud pits/holes. Largest grades up to 10 degrees and small rocks. 4WD recommended but 2WD possible under good conditions and with adequate ground clearance and skill. No width problems for any normal vehicle. Vehicle passing spots frequently available if less than two vehicles wide.
