Much of trail traverses large rock slabs giving you a little taste of Moab. Silver Creek flows over rocks beside the trail with wonderful clear pools in which to relax and play. Unique places to camp along the way. The south end of trail runs along beautiful Utica Reservoir, a scenic place to camp, mountain bike and flatwater kayak. Street-legal vehicles only. The first part of trail is moderate and suitable for aggressive stock SUVs. The last part has some challenging hardcore obstacles. A good driver in a seasoned SUV can probably get through okay. Directions: Slick Rock is three hours East of Sacramento, California, or about 2.5 hours south of Reno, Nevada. Most people approach the trail from the California side. To get there, drive up Highway 4 past Bear Valley to Lake Alpine. Turn south off the highway at the west end of Lake Alpine. There are signs for Lake Alpine Campground. The Trail starts off from the Campground below Lake Alpine. Stay to the right as you approach the lake. The trailhead is about three quarters of a mile from highway 4. You\
