Wharton state park has over 500 miles of unpaved roads and is the place to go for off-roading in NJ. The area around is sensitive though so make sure to check the rules before you go and your vehicle must be street legal. This is a great place to go to after a large amount of rain or snow because large puddles and mud holes form.

This had plenty of easy areas for a noobie like me to solo without a buddy. Stock JKU with some AT tires had no issues with what I attempted. There's definitely paths with challenges for those with more beefed up rides. There's plenty of go around paths for those of who might not be more capable or sure of their vehicle.

I've been going to these trails for 5 years and feel like I've barely scratched the surface. They do get narrow (for a Jeep GC and 4Runner) in different spots particularly when the plants are in bloom. It does get muddy so I would recommend good A/T tires although when we've gone without rain there are plenty of people in Crossovers our there.
