Trails closed?

Submitted on Oct 23, 2021

Went out today with the family. Spoke to two park rangers and they informed me that the off road trails (for 4x4 vehicles) were now closed indefinitely and only permitted for park ranger vehicles. They said anyone who posted about riding in this state park was doing so illegally and are subject to fines. There are also white signs all over the place saying as such. Really bummed we drove all the way out there for a just a quick scenery.

Awesome Ride !!!

We are new Jeep owners. This was our first trail ever. Excellent experience for an introduction into off-roading. Most of the roads are smooth. Once you get to the unmarked trails… that’s where the fun begins. Turn right just past the forest service station. Spent 3 hours there. Can’t wait to go back and keep exploring.

I came in on pavilion road since the gate was closed for this trail when I went this weekend. My son and I were camping. The campground is very nice but spartan. For large groups tent/roof top tent camping, space 7 is very reasonable and can hold many vehicles and tents. The track I took was fire tower road past the ranger station to big oaks and turned left. This section is pretty easy and only a bit of mud. Once we got to hog trap road we turned right and this is where it got fun and lots of mud. We took it to north boundary road and came back since we needed to setup camp and my tent is on my truck. Unfortunately I did not take any pictures of the trails, but here are a few of the campsite.

Nice State Forest

Plenty of roads with different degrees of difficulty. So far the best state forest I've found in NE FL. National forests are bigger, but this can definitely be a fun afternoon.
